Title: The maximum number of S_3 Galois lines for canonical curves of genus 4

Abstract:
Let C be a canonical curve of genus 4 over the complex number field.
The curve C is a projective algebraic curve in the 3 dimensional projective
space, given by two  homogeneous polynomials of degree 2 and 3.  For a line l
in the projective space, we consider the projection C -> (a projective line)
with center l. The projection gives an extension of the function fields
k(C) / k(the projective line). The line l is referred to as a S_3 line if the
extension of function fields is Galois and its Galois group is isomorphic to
the symmetric group S_3 of degree 3. Shotaro Kato showed in his senior thesis
that the maximum number of S_3 lines is 10. His proof is given by using the
system GAP for computational discrete algebra and the list in [I. Kuribayashi
and A. Kuribayashi, J. Pure Appl. Algebra (1990)]. The talk will give a general
overview of the Galois point study initiated by Yoshihara and introduce previous
works on Galois lines for canonical curves of genus 4. The talk then will present
a proof that the maximum number of S_3 lines is 10, which is a different proof
from Kato's and does not use the list of Kuribayashi et al.
