Climate and Weather
The mid-July in Kyoto is the end of the rainy season and the beginning of the summer. Average temperatures of Kyoto in July are as follows:

Though temperature occasionally rises above 35°C (95°F) in mid-summer, hotels and the conference room are nicely air-conditioned and you may feel that you need a light sweater. You are advised to carry an umbrella because it rains (sometimes cats and dogs) if the rainy season is not over.

Gion Matsuri
One week later, there is a big festival "Gion Matsuri (Gion Festival)" in Kyoto, and many tourists will visit the city for the festival. We advise participants in the workshop that you make travel plans and book hotel as soon as possible.
